Russia Condemns Attack on Stockholm Trade Mission
This response came after a drone incident on July 5 that targeted Russia’s trade mission in Stockholm, as stated in an announcement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Swedish representative, J. Soderberg, was officially summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where officials issued a firm complaint.
They demanded that Sweden uphold its responsibilities as outlined in the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, a treaty that governs the conduct and protections of diplomatic missions worldwide.
In the statement, Moscow pressed Swedish authorities to “identify the perpetrators behind the systematic attacks on Russian foreign missions” and ensure they face legal consequences.
The incident on July 5 reportedly involved a drone releasing a container of paint onto the grounds of the Russian trade mission.
Russia emphasized that the repeated assaults on its diplomatic offices raise substantial concerns about Sweden’s capacity—or determination—to maintain proper diplomatic safeguards.
“These attacks have continued for over a year, and appeals to Swedish police and the Foreign Ministry have yielded no results,” the Russian side previously said, holding Sweden entirely accountable for the deteriorating security situation.
