Ukraine Launches Drone Attack on Russia's Kursk Beach

(MENAFN) A drone attack launched by Ukrainian forces struck a public beach in Russia's Kursk Oblast on Tuesday, resulting in three fatalities and wounding seven others, including a young child, local officials confirmed. Kursk Oblast shares a border with Ukraine, heightening the incident's regional tension.

Acting governor Alexander Khinshtein reported via his Telegram channel that the location had no military installations nearby. He emphasized the timing of the strike: "on a summer evening, during a holiday, at a place where families with children were relaxing."

Among the deceased was a senior sergeant serving in the Russian National Guard. Khinshtein detailed that the sergeant and a colleague had responded to the initial blast to assist civilians when a second drone exploded, claiming the sergeant’s life.

The injured victims sustained shrapnel injuries and burns. Of the seven wounded, five—including the five-year-old—are in critical condition and currently undergoing treatment at the regional hospital.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene immediately, and an official investigation has been launched, Khinshtein said.

Ukrainian authorities have yet to issue a statement on the strike.
