Trump Predicts Ukraine Will Lose Some “Property” to Russia
During a Sunday interview with a news agency, Trump was asked whether it was feasible to end the hostilities between Moscow and Kiev “without taking significant property from Ukraine.”
In response, he implied that Kiev would inevitably have to make some compromises.
“Well, [Russian President Vladimir Putin] is going to take something. I mean, they fought, and he has a lot of property. I mean, he has won certain property,” Trump remarked.
Although Kiev has consistently denied any intention to cede territory, Moscow has insisted that the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the newly claimed Russian regions is a crucial condition for achieving a durable peace agreement.
Trump also indicated he was still mulling over the possibility of providing Ukraine with US-manufactured long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles.
The potential shipment of these weapons was a significant subject during his recent meeting with Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky.
However, Trump refrained from committing to supplying the missiles, noting that it would not be “easy” to transfer such advanced arms to Kiev.
Furthermore, Trump emphasized that the United States has already furnished Ukraine with extensive military aid throughout the conflict and stressed that Washington cannot deplete its entire stockpile to support the Ukrainian forces.
