Russia says it remains open for communication after Trump’s remark
At a briefing in Moscow, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Russian-US engagement aims to further clarify the framework of dialogue on bilateral relations and joint steps toward resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
"We proceed from the assumption that Washington will continue sharing its considerations and motives concerning measures taken, including those made public," she added.
Zakharova reiterated Russia’s position on Ukraine, including neutrality, non-alignment, denuclearization, demilitarization, “denazification,” protection of Russian-speaking communities, and the unhindered functioning of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
"This serves as a starting point in our dialogue with the United States and other interested countries seeking to make constructive contributions to the cause of settlement," she said.
She stressed that Moscow sees no major barriers to continuing the process initiated by the Russian and US presidents to align political frameworks for resolving the conflict, emphasizing that “this is difficult and painstaking work, but it must be done through diplomatic efforts and instruments rather than leaks or provocations.”
