Ukraine Brings Back Bodies of 1,000 Fallen Soldiers from Russia

(MENAFN) Ukraine has successfully brought back the bodies of 1,000 of its fallen soldiers from Russia, according to official reports on Thursday. The operation was the result of a coordinated effort involving multiple Ukrainian agencies.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War confirmed that law enforcement officials, along with experts from the Interior Ministry, will now carry out examinations and identification processes for the repatriated remains.

The successful transfer was made possible by collaboration among the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces, the Interior Ministry, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and various other defense and security institutions.

In a statement, the Coordination Headquarters expressed appreciation for the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross and extended "special thanks" to the military medical service for their role in organizing the transportation and handover of the remains to forensic and investigative bodies.
