Zelensky says US proposed trilateral security meeting with Russia
Speaking during an online question-and-answer session, Zelenskyy noted that he would back such a format provided it delivers concrete outcomes, particularly on key humanitarian issues such as prisoner exchanges, according to reports.
He recalled that similar meetings had previously taken place in Türkiye, where negotiations led to successful prisoner swaps between the two sides.
Zelenskyy added that work continues on a peace framework put forward by Washington, with the Ukrainian delegation maintaining discussions in the United States.
He said the talks have focused on some of the most sensitive matters, including Ukraine’s territorial integrity, security guarantees, funding for post-war reconstruction, and the administration of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.
According to Zelenskyy, an interim arrangement in which Ukrainian and Russian forces remain positioned along current front lines could be a temporary step toward ending the fighting.
He also expressed skepticism about Moscow’s readiness to halt the war, while noting that US officials have indicated Russia is interested in bringing the conflict to an end.
