Russia Launches Massive Drone-Missile Barrage on Ukraine

(MENAFN) Russia unleashed one of its most sweeping aerial bombardments against Ukraine in the early hours of Sunday, sending nearly 300 combat drones and 50 missiles across seven regions in a coordinated strike that left one person dead and 15 wounded in the Kyiv region alone, officials confirmed.

Regional Governor Mykola Kalashnyk disclosed via Telegram that the assault reached six of the region's seven districts, with the heaviest toll concentrated in the western Fastiv district, where a building sustained extensive structural damage.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the scale of the overnight offensive, identifying Ukraine's energy infrastructure as the primary target. Beyond the power grid, the barrage also struck residential areas and railway facilities, compounding the humanitarian toll.

Zelensky issued an urgent call to accelerate the reinforcement of the country's air defense capabilities, stressing the need to shield critical national infrastructure from further Russian attacks.

The strike marks a significant escalation in aerial warfare as Russia continues to press its campaign against Ukrainian civilian and strategic targets. Ukrainian authorities have not yet provided a full national casualty count as damage assessments remain ongoing across all affected regions.
